How it Works

A dental implant is a titanium screw that acts as the foundation for replacing a tooth or teeth.
There are 3 key parts to a dental implant:
  • Implant Post (or Body): This is the foundational component, placed in the jaw to serve as the anchor.
  • Abutment: This piece connects the implant post to the crown.
  • Crown: The visible portion in the mouth, which can also be an implant bridge spanning multiple implants.

Dental Implant Timeline

The process typically takes 5-6 months from start to finish.
1
Insert the implant body and allow it to integrate into the jawbone for a period of four months. This healing process, known as osseointegration, ensures that the implant becomes securely anchored in place, providing a strong foundation for the final restoration.
2
Expose the implants and allow the gums to adapt to the proper shape over a two-week period. This healing phase ensures that the soft tissue forms around the implants, creating a natural appearance and preparing for the final restoration.
3
Take impressions and send them to an external lab for the fabrication of the abutment and crown. This process typically takes 3 to 4 weeks, during which the lab will create custom pieces that fit perfectly with your dental implants and match the appearance of your natural teeth.
4
Attach the abutment and place the crown. This final step completes the dental implant process, restoring both the function and aesthetics of your smile with a secure and natural-looking tooth replacement.
